WW2 Famous Entertainers in Townsville

More Exciting News. Peter Dunn has kindly given permission for pictures and information from his "Australians@War" website to be used on the PAHST website. Information and pictures about famous entertainers that came to Townsville in WW2 at the US camp's Helton Hall near Mount Louisa and other places in the area.

Exciting News. The Australian War Memorial has kindly given their permission for the low resolution pictures from the AWM website to be used on the PAHST website. Information and pictures about entertainment that happened in World War 2 in Townsville especially at the Wintergarden Theatre.
Townsville Civic Theatre Info added

Information about the Townsville Civic Theatre at its opening in 1978 has now been added. It has been compiled from information from the book "Civic Theatre" by John Raggatt. It includes some pictures and we hope to add more soon.
4ttt Palmer St Jazz Festival Info added

Information about the history of the 4ttt Palmer St Jazz Festival has now been added thanks to the jazz festival committee and in particular Neal Sellars. Pictures from the event will be added shortly.

Paul Neilson donates his collection

Paul Neilson of 'Cranky Pants' fame has kindly donated a scanned copy of his collection electronically to the Society. This means that Paul's collection gathered over the years he has been involved with music, theatre, and school productions will be added to the collection and some placed on the this web site. Thanks Paul.

Since the last major update, the Society has collected and scanned a lot more material on the performing arts history of the area. A new Donations page has been added to acknowledge those individuals and groups that have donated information. We have added a links page so that you can jump straight to the group's own website to find out the latest information from that group.

Congratulations to the Townsville Choral & Orchestral Society's Centenary year. By kind permission from the Society we have placed some snippets of  interest on this site about the Choral Society's long history (1906 - 2006). Hopefully we can add a lot more from our files later.

The Society's Secretary Ellen Read was interviewed on 4TTT radio by Anne Brook-Wagner. Anne asked Ellen about her involvement with the Performing Arts in Townsville and during the program Ellen mentioned the formation and launch of the Society.
