Arts History |
The Performing Arts Historical Society Townsville was formed on Thursday 2nd December 2004 by a small group of volunteers who have an interest in collecting and preserving the history of the performing arts in the Townsville/Thuringowa region. The official launch was on 11th March 2005 with the Society's website and official notices to the performing arts groups of the region. It is hoped that these groups will support the Society by providing copies of their Posters, programmes, flyers etc from past and future shows etc. Eventually the Society hopes to be able to create a Performing Arts Museum where people may come and view the collection especially original material from past and present musical shows, dance, plays etc. At the same time the Society will endeavour to place as much of the information as possible that has already been collected into a database. |
